Milling is similar to Chopping, except a smaller product size range is achieved from milling.  The product from a chopping system is often the feed stock to the milling system, as multiple stages of size reduction are needed to convert continuous fibres to a milled powder.

Milling is accomplished by feeding the short chopped fibres through a set of concentrically rotating hammer or ball mill that is used to abrade the fibre to micron sizes.

Milled fibres are frequently mixed into composites as a way of imparting mechanical and electrical properties.
