Custom machine builder Cygnet Texkimp will demonstrate its new filament winding technology at JEC in Paris next week.
The fibre converting specialist will mark the launch of its four-axis filament winder by showcasing the full, production-scale machine at its stand.
Its launch comes two years after Cygnet Texkimp brought to market the world’s first robotic 3D winding machine, the 3D Winder, to create complex composite parts for the automotive and aerospace markets in high volumes and at high speeds. It is also a year since the launch of the company’s robotic filament winding machine.
Luke Vardy, managing director at Cygnet Texkimp, explains how the new machine strengthens the company’s position in the filament winding market:
“Our 3D Winder and robotic filament winding machine sit at the more complex end of the filament winding scale, and in developing them with the University of Manchester we built a huge amount of knowledge in the process.
“We’ve now translated that knowledge into a standard machine that is accessible to a wider cross-section of the market but retains the specialist features that our technology is known for, which include optimised geometry, reduced contact points, and the right surface finishes.
“Once again, we’re applying 45 years of know-how in creels, handling and converting to maximise the value of our customers’ investment in fibre by eliminating opportunities for damage.”
