Spreaders
The spreading process involves unwinding a continuous length of a multifilament fibre – typically glass, carbon or aramid – from a creel and spreading the fibre evenly to form a full sheet comprised of individual tows. This sheet can then be impregnated with a resin or adhesive to create a continuous sheet of material.
Cygnet Texkimp’s spreading technology draws on the company’s extensive process knowledge to overcome the challenge of maintaining the integrity of the formed sheet of fibres.
This machine is predominantly, but not exclusively, used to process UD (unidirectional) fibres used in thermoplastic and thermoset prepreg lines.
