Tow Preg
The manufacture of Tow Preg involves applying a resin or polymer to a fibre, uniformly and with a predetermined ratio, to create an impregnated filament bundle suitable for a range of downstream processes.
Cygnet Texkimp offers a range of Tow Preg processes designed to provide precise and cost-effective tapes at high volume and high speeds.
The methodology is similar to that used in our Prepreg processing technology, but incorporates a single tow – normally a 12k, 24k or 50k fibre-count tow – instead of a sheet of fibres.
Tow Pregs can be used as an alternative to Slit Tapes and wound or woven into parts with a reasonable wall thickness, such as pressure vessels for the automotive aerospace and marine markets.
