Cygnet Texkimp has been shortlisted in the Innovation in Manufacture category of the annual Composites UK Industry Awards for its thermoplastic processing technology.

The Direct Melt Impregnation Thermoplastic Line has been created to manufacture thermoplastic tapes in large volumes for mainstream industrial markets including automotive and construction.

It is believed to be the world’s first commercially available thermoplastic manufacturing line capable of using standard polymers, from polypropylene to PEEK, to create high-grade thermoplastic prepregs on an industrial scale.

“We are extremely happy to have our work recognised by the UK composites community,” says Cygnet Texkimp MD Luke Vardy.

“It gives us another string to our bow as we build our reputation as a specialist innovator here and overseas. The UK is home to a truly world-class composites industry and we are proud to play a part in promoting its expertise internationally.”

A webinar showcasing all the shortlisted entries in the innovation categories will take place on 11th November and the winners will be announced on 18th November. For more information, visit www.compositesuk.co.uk
