Cygnet Texkimp’s innovative technology to manufacture high-grade thermoplastic tapes on an industrial scale using standard raw materials has been shortlisted in two coveted composites industry awards.

The company has developed the technology which has been recognised by judges of the Unsurpassed Innovation category of the CAMX Awards and the Manufacturing category of the ACE Awards.

Cygnet Texkimp - Direct Melt Thermoplastic Composite LineThe Direct Melt Impregnation Thermoplastic Composite Line is the world’s first commercially available thermoplastic composite line capable of using standard polymer, from polypropylene to PEEK, to create high-grade thermoplastic composite prepregs on an industrial scale.

Both the CAMX and ACE Awards celebrate outstanding achievement and innovation that have the potential to truly change the composites and advanced materials industry. Winners of the awards will be announced at this year’s CAMX show (The Composites and Advanced Materials Expo) which takes place in Dallas TX, 19-21 October 2021.

“It is a huge honour to have our technology recognised by the judges of these two prestigious industry awards,” says Cygnet Texkimp CEO Luke Vardy.

“Our thermoplastic manufacturing line is a highly novel and original technology developed by some of the best engineering minds in our industry using decades of fibre handling knowledge. Above all, it addresses the challenges that have so far limited the large-scale success of thermoplastics by simplifying and shortening the process of manufacturing while maintaining the quality of the end product.

“Thermoplastic composites are highly desirable as light, strong, chemically stable and recyclable advanced materials. Now we have the enabling technology to make their use viable in mainstream industrial markets including automotive and construction, their potential is unlimited.”

Cygnet Texkimp will be exhibiting at CAMX Booth K52 and in the Awards Pavilion, Dallas, TX, 19-21 October 2021. For more information, visit www.thecamx.org
