Cheshire-based machinery manufacturer Cygnet Texkimp has been shortlisted in the North West regional final of the Make UK Manufacturing Awards.
The company, which was founded almost 50 years ago and builds specialist machinery to process technical fibres for global markets, was shortlisted in the awards’ Energy & Sustainability category for its innovative fibre recycling solution, DEECOM®.
DEECOM® uses superheated steam to reclaim composite fibres from retired parts, such as those found in cars, aeroplanes and wind turbines, and offers the potential for them to be reused in the manufacture of new parts. The solution is being developed and commercialised for the composites sector by Cygnet Texkimp alongside industry partner and technology inventor, Longworth, with applications ranging from marine to wind turbines, automotive, aerospace, rail and construction.
The Make UK Manufacturing Awards recognise and celebrate manufacturers who have done exceptional work in the sector.
